Helen Tucker's Biography
Date of Birth: March 8th 1984
Place of birth: Oban, Scotland
Lives and trains: Bridgend.
I got into Triathlon about age 16. I was a swimmer and Chris Goulden, Welsh Tri coach at the time, asked a few of us at my swim club if we wanted to give triathlon a go. And it kind of went from there.
I won the British Youth Championships the following year and gained Elite Cymru Funding, a Welsh lottery funded sports programme. They were a great support through my junior career, when I gained some junior national titles and through my first years as a senior, when I moved up to Olympic Distance. I had my best year so far in 2005; it was a breakthrough for me - I gained two World Cup podiums and a second at the British senior nationals.
I now have UK Sport lottery funding due to my success in 2005 and I am looking towards Beijing 2008 and London 2012. These are my main goals and I’m going to try to enjoy and do well in all my races up to and in-between the Olympics!
