November 2008

At the end of October I competed in my last race of the season, a premium ETU Points race in Alanya, Turkey! I flew out to the race early to get used to the heat and also get some open water swimming done before the race. I was really hoping for a good swim but unfortunately I lost time and had to work very hard on the bike to try and catch the lead group.

We managed to narrow the gap but were unable to catch the leaders. I went out very hard on the run, held my form well and managed to get up to 12th place. I was pretty disappointed with the result but at least I can now clearly see that I have some serious issues with my swim that need to be addressed this winter! I'd like to thank my aunty, Bette, for letting me stay in her apartment for the week.

I also got to be a guest judge for the Mars Refuel Chocolate Drink Fund which was great fun reading through all of the great applications which you have sent in. It was really tough to pick the most deserving cases but think we got there in the end.

I am now well into my winter training which is where a successful 2009 will come from so I'll update you on my training progress next month!
