Helen Jenkins is the 2008 and 2011 World Triathlon Champion and one of GB’s strongest medal hopes for London 2012.
After a couple of years of injury problems, Helen Jenkins announced her return to fitness in 2008 with an amazing six weeks of racing: 2nd place at Madrid WC (and Olympic qualification), winning the ITU World Championships and 3rd place at Des Moines, Iowa WC. She finished 2008 ranked World No. 3.
2009 saw the introduction of the new ITU World Championship Series. Helen’s good results continued with top 5 finished in Washington and Kitzbuhel, and podium performances in London (Hyde Park) and the WCS Grand Final. She also won the prestigious London Triathlon.
Another great year of consistent results in 2010 (podiums in Madrid, Des Moines and Hyde Park) saw Helen win the London Triathlon again, be crowned British National Champion and finish the year ranked No 4 in the World.
Helen kicked off her 2011 season with 2nd place finishes at both the Madrid and Kitzbuhel ITU World Championship Series races. She then secured her first WCS win at the London (Hyde Park) Olympic Test Event in early August.
