Helen Jenkins (nee Tucker)
Biography
Date of Birth: March 8th 1984
Place of birth: Oban, Scotland
Lives and trains: Bridgend, Wales
I got into Triathlon about age 16. I was a swimmer and Chris Goulden, Welsh Tri coach at the time, asked a few of us at my swim club if we wanted to give triathlon a go, and it kind of went from there. I won the British Youth Championships the following year and have been hooked ever since!
In 2005 I started to make my mark at Senior level with two World Cup podiums, and a year later was crowned British National Champion. I then had 18 months of injury issues which was really frustrating. However, in 2008 I bounced back and won the World Triathlon Championships as well as competing at the Beijing Olympics.
I am looking forward to the next four years!
