Tim Farr's
Biography
Date of Birth: 20th May 1982
Place of birth: London
Lives and trains: Twickenham, London in between training in the mountains
I started skiing when I was just seven years old, but in 2004 I broke my back in an accident on an Exeter university ski trip aged 21. Despite this, I was back on the slopes within a year.
I am currently a member of the British Disabled Ski Team, and was part of the seven man squad that went to the 2010 Winter Paralympics. I competed in both the Slalom and GS events finishing with two top 20s. I was disappointed, however, to be disqualified in GS for leaving the start gate one second early! It was frustrating, but despite lots of arguments and excuses I know I finished 15th.
Despite having a year off last year through injury, I am currently the British no. 1 and I am ranked just out of the top 30 disabled skiers in the world.
The aim over the next few years is to qualify for the 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympics and to have done everything I possibly can to be in a podium position. The first step is to secure my place on the World Cup Circuit again and put in some consistent results at Europa cup and World Cups as well as at the 2013 World Championships.
There is a lot of work to do over the next three years but it’s going to be exciting.
